This Privacy Policy explains how Newt AI (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and mobile apps (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign up with email, Google, or Apple, we receive your email address and basic profile details (such as name and avatar) from you or your sign-in provider.
  • Learning data. Your profile settings (native and target languages, level, interests), the texts generated for you, words you save, your review history and spaced-repetition schedule, and daily activity.
  • Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription and its plan. We do not collect or store your full payment-card details — payments are handled by Apple (in-app purchases) or our web payment provider.
  • Usage & device data. Log data, app interactions, approximate region, device and browser type, and similar analytics collected automatically to operate and improve the Service.

2. How we use your information

  • provide, personalize, and maintain the Service (e.g., generating texts and translations at your level);
  • run the spaced-repetition trainer and track your progress;
  • process subscriptions and enforce usage limits;
  • analyze usage to improve features, reliability, and performance;
  • communicate with you about the Service and respond to support requests;
  • protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats, and comply with the law.

3. AI processing

To generate texts, translate words, and produce audio, the Service sends the necessary inputs (such as the word and its sentence, your target/native language, level, and interests) to third-party AI providers (for example, OpenAI). Do not enter sensitive personal information into free-text fields.

4. Service providers we share data with

We share information with vendors who process it on our behalf, only as needed to run the Service:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting;
  • Vercel — application hosting and performance;
  • OpenAI (and similar) — AI text generation, translation, and speech;
  • PostHog — product analytics;
  • Apple — sign-in and in-app purchases on iOS;
  • Google — sign-in;
  • Polar — payment processing on the web.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

5. Cookies & local storage

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences (such as theme and reader text size), and measure usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update much of your data in the app’s settings, or contact us to exercise these rights. We will respond as required by applicable law.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International transfers

We and our providers may process your information in countries other than your own, which may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
