Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Newt AI (“Newt AI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the Newt AI website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Newt AI helps you learn languages by reading. The Service generates short texts tailored to your level and interests, provides in-context translations, and offers a spaced-repetition trainer for vocabulary you save. Features may change, and we may add, modify, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service. You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. You may sign in using email, Google, or Apple; by doing so you authorize us to receive basic profile information from that provider as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Subscriptions & billing

The Service offers a free tier with daily usage limits and an optional paid subscription (“Premium”) that removes those limits.

• Apple App Store purchases. Premium purchased in our iOS app is an auto-renewable subscription billed through your Apple ID. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings; deleting the app does not cancel it. Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms.
• Web purchases. Premium purchased on our website is processed by our payment provider (Polar). It renews automatically until cancelled, which you can do from your account or billing portal.

Prices may change with notice for future billing periods. Except where required by law or platform policy, payments are non-refundable.

4. AI-generated content

Texts, translations, pronunciations, examples, and audio are produced using automated and third-party AI systems. They are provided for language-learning purposes only, may contain errors or inaccuracies, and should not be relied upon as professional, medical, legal, financial, or other advice. Always verify important information independently.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• attempt to access, scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure;
• resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our permission;
• use the Service to generate content that is illegal, harmful, or infringing, or to circumvent usage limits.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit (such as your interests prompt or saved words). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to process and store that content as needed to operate and improve the Service.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and the Newt AI name and logo, is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own language learning.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties (including hosting, authentication, payments, analytics, and AI providers). Your use may also be subject to their terms. For Apple App Store users, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Newt AI will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at our principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable rights you have as a consumer under your local law.
